Who are we?We are a united body of Christ followers who cooporate together to see the name of Jesus proclaimed from our neighborhoods to the nations. We are not littered with church programs or other things to further clutter calendars throughout the week. Instead, we expect our members to fill their time with relationships in the church and in their community. This model is just as functional in Fort Worth as it is at the ends of the earth, and has easily been transported to places in the world where there is no visible church. Our model of church is partially facillitated through a Sunday morning gathering time where our home groups come together to cooperate with resources, encourage one another through testimony, offer mutual accountability, challenge each other through God's Word, and corporately respond in worship (song, art, photo, video, scripture reading, etc.). The life of the church resides within the home groups that meet throughout the week. It is in these home groups that participants share life with one another and are challenged to grow in an intimate relationship with Jesus, ultimately taking on his character as it is revealed through the Bible. Each group focuses on ministry in their midst, which could include walking through individual struggles within the group, or helping members reach out to others in their neghborhoods or workplace. READ MORE >>> Each group also relies upon its members challenging each other through smaller same-gender groups of two to four. Together, these groups pray for those who do not know Jesus, read large amounts of the Bible, and confront and confess sins. These groups are the heart of Deer Creek. The leaders of the home groups are accountable to the elders. Each elder has been selected by the church and is responsible for leading and pastoring the church, which includes oversight of the biblical teaching on Sunday mornings. Membership at Deer Creek is made through an annual covenant with one another. This covenant is not a binding contract, but rather serves as a declaration of our commitment to one another. Denominationally we are affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). This partnership allows us to cooperate with other SBC churches in accomplishing ministry around the world that would otherwise be difficult to accomplish on our own, such as the funding of missionaries.
